I just changed more than a decade old habit of having Milk! Feels Good.
Milk is one of the important drinks for most of us in India and worldwide. Our breakfast and post dinner drink a lot of times comprises of Milk. That’s so because of the nutritional value in it.
Fresh Buffalo milk is what my body had taken for good 19 years till I left home to study further. It’s considered to be the healthiest.
Since my MBA Hostel life days which started in 2006 I have been surviving on packaged milk. I still remember how Bhaiya in Hostel Mess use to serve the cold milk right from the packet. Well I was one of those who preferred hot milk at night. But the fact is in both the situations the poly packaging remained same.
Another fact about my habit – I like Amul milk versus Mother dairy Milk – for a simple reason –Taste.
Well I want to share something really small which I have changed in my life yesterday- And that is the habit of milk procurement and consumption.
So after using milk and wasting one time poly packing for 12 years I have finally stopped buying packaged milk.
Living in metro city made me to prefer buying packaged milk versus Fresh one because of the availability factor. However I finally decided to implement the other way of not using poly packaged Milk.
Few meters away from my house is Mother Dairy booth; where milk can be bought and taken away in your own container. I have been seeing it from last several months and have been questioning myself if at all I should just get started taking my own container and do not get any poly pack in the house. Then I have been questioning about the taste factor.
Post having debate with self on taste and no poly in the house – Finally the later won.
People living in Small cities have got advantage of having fresh milk right from the Cow or buffalo. For Big cities- Milk booths are spread across various cities, for the sake of saving environment from plastic – Use it!
Food packaging and one time use of plastic is one of the main reasons of rising plastic pollution. Along with the surrounding, plastic is being found in far away living animals away from civilization. Time to act is now!
Small little solutions are just around us, we just need to keep our conscious open for positive change!
